London Mayor Boris Johnson has covered Jessie J and Ariana Grande's 'Bang Bang'.

Taking to the airwaves on Capital FM's breakfast show this morning (9 December), the politician read out the lyrics to the hit single over the instrumental track, arguably messing up the diction but giving it a good go none the less.

Unfortunately though Johnson only attempted the chorus, and didn't delve into the lyrical minefield of Nicki Minaj's guest-verse.

This is one of many new versions of the track to surface in recent weeks, after an infamous 'Shreds' rendition of Jessie J's performance appeared online last month.

Johnson's cover of 'Bang Bang' can be seen in all its glory here.

The mayor was appearing on the radio to discuss London's plans for fireworks on New Year's Eve, and the new ticketing system based around the famous display.

Jessie J and Ariana Grande have yet to comment on being covered by the man widely tipped to be the next British prime minister.

  • Banks on Neon Jungle's cover of 'Waiting Game', which they put on their debut album without her permission.

  • Etta James showing a disdain for tact in her assessment of Beyonce's 'At Last' cover, performed for Obama. It's worth noting that the song was first performed by Glenn Miller, not Etta James.

  • Gotye on the Glee cast's cover of the ubiquitous 'Somebody That I Used To Know.'

  • Primal Scream's short but sweet opinion of Frankie Cocozza's X Factor cover. You'd forgotten Frankie Cocozza existed hadn't you?

  • The Eagles' Don Henley was not happy that Frank Ocean sampled the entirety of 'Hotel California' minus vocals for 'American Wedding.' Not happy at all.

  • Lorde doesn't enjoy listening to anyone's cover of 'Royals.' But they shouldn't take it personally - she hates her own version too.

  • Blondie's Debby Harry mustering up the most complimentary response she can to the question: "What do you think of Atomic Kitten's version of 'The Tide Is High'?"

  • Prince on Sinead O'Connor's cover of 'Nothing Compares 2 U', which was originally written and composed as one of Prince's side projects.
